The Wharfedale Off-Road Half Marathon is a 13 mile fell race which starts and finishes at Wharfedale Rugby Club, Wharfeside Avenue, Threshfield, BD23 5BS and takes in some of Wharfedale's finest scenery following well established footpaths including the Dalesway and Mastiles Lane. The race starts at 11.00 am and directions and grid references are detailed below, all entrants must have map reading experience and carry the appropriate map. The Event is conducted under the Fell-Runners Association Rules for Competition and is a category BL Run. Please ensure you read and understand the rules of entry which are detailed on the main Wharfedale Off-Road Marathon page.
Refreshments - Tea and biscuits are available at the start and water and energy drinks will be provided at all manned checkpoints. Food will be available at the finish.
Clubhouse Facilities - Ladies and Gentlemen's changing rooms available with showers, (Additional multi-shower/toilet facilities for Ladies) please bring your own towels. There is a lounge and dining area, food and full bar facilities will operate throughout the day.
Prizes & Awards - Everyone completing the race will receive a commemorative T-Shirt plus a chance to win some of the £450 in Prizes Prizes will be awarded in the usual categories plus additional prizes according to the number of competitors. A number of "spot prizes" will also be awarded.
Prize List First £60 * Second £40 * Third £20 * Winners of age categories(5 year groups) £15 each. An additional prize of £100 will be awarded to the winner of each event if they beat the existing Course Record.

Route - START: Wharfedale RUFC: GR 990643 - Leave the Clubhouse via Wharfeside Avenue towards Grassington, cross over River Wharfe Bridge to: GR 998639
Follow footpath to Grass Wood Lane, cross road and follow lane up to Town Head Farm. Turn right to follow diverted route of Dalesway (signposted) around Town Head Farm; continue along Dalesway to Scott Gate Lane: CHECKPOINT GR 992682 (water available)
Turn left and follow Scott Gate Lane downhill into Conistone Village; follow unclassified road over Conistone Bridge to it's junction with the B6160 opposite Kilnsey Village Hall: GR 976675
Turn left along the B6160 (marshals will be in attendance to assist with road safety) turn right after aproximately 60 yards near Bow Bridge, along a farm track; follow the finger postged sign over a stone footbridge to it's junction with Mastiles Lane: GR 968673 (care should be taken on the loose and uneven surface of the farm track and Mastiles Lane)
Climb Mastiles Lane to it's highest point and continue downhill through Mastiles Gate: GR 944662
Continue along Mastiles Lane to pointer sign: CHECKPOINT: GR 935657 (water available)turn left, following the footpath marked with flags to Boardley Green Farm: GR 943650 (water available) through farmyard to metalled road turn right on to footpath
Follow the footpath, turn right onto bridle path to:Higher Heights Holes CHECKPOINT GR 958647 (Water available)
Cross Boss Moor to gateway and: UNMANNED CHECKPOINT GR957633. Pass through the gateway, turn left and follow footpath across Threshfield Moor and via Lane House to Skirethorns to B6160 GR 989638
Cross the main road and follow the lane which leads past some agricultural buildings to Wharfeside Avenue and return to Clubhouse. FINISH
Remember: The route follows established, signposted footpaths and tracks. Diversion from the route will lead to disqualification.
