St. Gemma's Hospice cares for local people with life threatening illnesses, predominantly cancer and provides support for their families. Care is provided by medical and nursing professionals in our 32 bed In-Patient Unit, in our Daily Service Centre and by our team of community nurses, who care for people in their own homes. The services we provide are free of charge to patients and their families, so we rely on people taking part in sponsored events like the Wharfedale Marathons and Rugger Rambles to help us raise the £7.2 million it costs to run the Hospice each year.

Our mission is to promote research, principally in Yorkshire,into the causes and cure of cancer and to publish and share the results of this research with the world's scientific community for the benefit of mankind.
We do this by fundraising in Yorkshire and providing grants to Yorkshire academic institutions.
We aim to fund specialists and expertise in the region so that cancer sufferers right here in Yorkshire and throughout the world have access to some of the best treatments and therapies.
