The Off-Road Marathon Fell Race has 25 mile and 13 mile options whilst the Rugger Ramble is a 13 mile Challenge Walk . All afford participants and their families the opportunity to enjoy a great day out in some of Wharfedale's finest scenery with a brief foray into Malhamdale on the longer event. With over 2,530 feet of ascents the routes follow well established footpaths, including the Dalesway, the Monks Road and Mastiles Lane and for those with time to take in the fabulous scenery the views from Yew Cogar Scar, Bull Scar and Boss Moor are breathtaking. The Marathons are organised under the Fell Runners Association Rules and the Challenge Walk follow the guide lines of the Long Distance Walkers Association. Precise details of the routes for each event are shown in the relevant section of this website.
NOTE - All events will use the SPORTident timing system
The profit from these events raise funds on behalf of Wharfedale RUFC a community rugby club and members of the RFU National Division 1 League and is used to improve facilities for both rugby and non-rugby users of the Clubhouse. The Club provide the organisation, venue, facilities and marshals on the day.
Whilst the Organising Committee wish all competitors a safe, exciting and challenging day in the Yorkshire Dales athletes are reminded that the route and terrain present a strenuous test involving over 2,000 feet of ascents and uneven surfaces. All competitors must ensure that their physical condition is strong enough to complete the course.
